Toon in for laughs!
The Single Dad Diaries webcomic was created by Ervin L. Johnson, who had been working for an education media company, doing technical support. The company had been sold for a second since he had been there and there was talk about the new company making cuts, and moving some operations to headquarters, where they owned the bulding.
It was a few weeks before his department had a meeting in which they were told that all support functions where moving to corporate headquarters in Nebraska. He was one of the lucky ones to be offered a severance, and he thought he would write a book. After considering how long he thought the severance would last, he knew he needed to find another job, but took the offer to train the support group at corporate, and set up systems there. When training was completed, and during a moment of reflection, he thought about how he would miss the job and being able to bring his son to work. He thought it would make a good topic for a book, which turned into a graphic novel, so he could include drawings (something he lovoed doing), and then a comic; cause who wants to sit and write anything anyway?
